Why is that motorists show a little less consideration to others on a Monday morning? Coming to work this morning made me wondering what driving schools teach their students? On the N2, on my way to the city, I noticed a vehicle in my rear window mirror. The vehicle, stayed behind me right until we got on to the North East Expressway, when the driver overtook me. You know what struck me? Not once did the driver indicate any of his various lane change moves to any of us other stupid motorists, who had to guess what he was planning to do. Come’n, why not show a bit of courtesy, and use your indicators when you want to turn, overtake or change from one lane to the other. It’s the right thing to do.
It is about time.
Welcocme to the blogosphere Eddie.
So many people – including the ones you mentioned in your column last week for parking their cars in the disabled parking bays at MacDonalds recently – will be very unhappy with this latest development.
But never mind them as you already have a fan in me.
Bo.
Thanks a lot Bo. As Dirty Harry said (your’e probably too young to remember), you’ve made my day! Hope you have safe journeys.
Well done with the blog. Its a great place to express your opinion. thank you. I drive on the roads every day,all day and have the unfortunate experiences meeting up with our favourite traffic officers. I got cited with a warning the other day for not having my front number plate attached to my vehicle, when it was obvious there was accident damage resulting in me having to order spares. The number plate was clearly visible in my windshield on my dashboard. While the gentleman was writing out my “warning” he was explaining that its because of the camera’s they are clamping down etc and that speeding is excessive, and he went on justifying the warning…..I am all for the law and any measures to ensure the safety of my family and friends against speedsters but while standing there a shiny. black AMG mercedes 4X4 came around the corner and proceeded past us. What was painfully obvious was the fact the vehicle had absolutely no registration plates dispayed…front or back. No temp plates…nothing. My friendly officer watched him go by! I have seen this same AMG 4X4 belting along NEX at horrendous speeds and also in the parking lot of our favourite hardware store driving like tomorrow is catching him. I want to know if a R600 thousand rand vehicle exempts you from having number plates or registering your vehicle. If so….I will be visiting the dealer for one as soon as possible.
You are so right. And also, why not remove all the unroadworthy vehicles from our roads? But the problem is, except for in your case, one never sees any traffic officials. Was in PE earlier this week and whilst driving into the city I saw more traffic police cars in one hour than what you would see in East London during a traffic officer passing out parade.
