Weekend power outages
You might want to plan your Sunday lunch differently this weekend if you live in Gonubie, King William’s Town, Breidbach, Ginsberg, Balasi Village or Sweetwaters as there will be power outages experienced in the above mentioned areas.
Buffalo City Municipality has issued the following statement to alert residents:
Buffalo City Municipality would like to alert its residents about possible interruption of electricity supply in Gonubie from 05h00 – 12h00 on Sunday 12 July 2009, weather permitting. The alternate date for this outage is Sunday, 19 July 2009. The purpose of the interruption is for Eskom to install and upgrade new equipment at Greenacres Substation. The outage is bounded as follows:
North – Estuary Drive
South – Arum Road
East – Main Road to 5th Street and Gordon View Drive
West – Boundary Road
The Gonubie Industrial Area and Wastewater Facilities will also be affected.
This interruption will also affect the following areas:
King William’s Town, Breidbach, Ginsberg, Balasi Village and Sweetwaters. The interruption here is for Buffalo City Municipality to replace a cable in the CBD Area. The time for this interruption is Sunday 12 July 2009 from 05h00-12h00 weather permitting.
The City would like the residents to treat all apparatus as being live throughout the whole period as the power may be restored at any time between these hours.
