Revival – your experiences!

Filed Under (religion) by Jan Hennop on 24-07-2009 and tagged , ,

revivalThere have been numerous requests from bloggers who wanted to share their experiences with us following the  “Days of Glory” revival which was held at River Ministries earlier this month. So on Friday, we are happy to oblige,  giving you a chance recap and share with us! Read the original story below as it first appeared in the Daily Dispatch on July 10:

Thousands of Christians flocked to East London from around the world and country for the series of spiritual revival services.

Hotels and other accommodation facilities in East London confirmed they had been inundated with bookings from scores of believers – from as far as Portugal, Malawi and Mauritius – pouring into the city. t

Total attendance at the services every night had exceeded 19 000.

Among those arriving in the city were hundreds of pastors from across the nation who have been watching the services as they were screened live across Africa and parts of the Middle East on the Christian television network station TBN Africa every night.

The revival was led by US- based evangelist Dr Rodney Howard-Browne, who grew up in Butterworth and King William’s Town.

He became known internationally in 1999 when, following in the footsteps of evangelist Billy Graham, Howard-Browne led a massive soul-winning crusade in Madison Gardens, New York.

The events sparked such interest internationally that they have been picked up by television stations across the United States, South America and Europe, according to Pastor Andre Roebert, senior pastor of the River Park Ministries.

19 000 people over 34 nights = 558 people each night (and how many of those were repeat visitors?) that’s not revival – that’s just a show!

Probably another atheist cashing in. Did billy graham not build a few palaces all over USA with the money he collected.

I call them balcony christians.

Chex, if I were you I’d be carefulwhat I say. How can you call the man an atheist when he’s getting thousands of people to follow God? It’s their own indaba if they choose to pay to go to the Revival, not for anyone of us to judge.

How dare you mock my Gods move, if a Dj was to perform at some club in East London were you going to say or write that ?? i did not think so. So SHUT UP !!!! Let God move. We need Jesus in East London, Eastern Cape as he is the solution to all these problems.

Chex on 24 July, 2009 at 2:58 pm CPMSAST #

You right Mtam, we need Jesus…do you see Him anywhere? I’ll wait for Him and not a man

Yet another guy out for his own glory, taking advantage of the poor and vulnerable. Why do you need to fly to another country to find an omnipresent God? It’s just more manipulation and money-making.

Chex on 24 July, 2009 at 3:01 pm CPMSAST #

I did not say he WAS an atheist, Rose. I know he is not Jesus. I don’t trust them simply because i don’t. Look what Billy did with the money. another in USA is in jail for tax fraud. I can name a few so I don’t trust any of them.

Chex, Rodney Howard-Browne has never claimed to be God. Do you know what? Personally I couldn’t care how much money he makes out of preaching, what matters is the amount of souls he’s bringing closer to God.

Bringing souls to Jesus? The only people who would watch him on TV are Christians!

I care about the money that will leave our country. Listen dear, I was banned from a large (high volume) blog site for demolishing atheists and their arguments against God. The only way they could get rid of me was by banning me. The Christians in USA I found was like damn sheep and the atheists really messed with them. If you want to give me a go on this issue, well… I am one of the few the atheist association fears. You can argue that the devil himself fears me. I learned my debating skills on that blog for over two years. I know how the devil works.

Mtam on 24 July, 2009 at 3:14 pm CPMSAST #

Chex run something of this magnitude you need money, why does it bother people what pastors do with the money that is received from an offering. If they abuse the money they will answer to God not you. Do you donate money to this move?? because you seemed troubled by this. If not then get of the backs of Christians. Go play with toys or something.

Chex on 24 July, 2009 at 3:21 pm CPMSAST #

Tell me, have any of you been exposed to the might of an atheist onslaught?
Be prepared as it will wave over from USA and GB. They have movements that will scare you. Christianity is at a decline in USA you won’t believe. They first collect your money and then use it against you. People, you are still in raw form by atheist standards. I withstood the conversion when many fell around me. 90% of scientists are already atheist. Wake up! God warned that many will come disguised… Know your Bible as the atheists know it better than you and will use the text against you.

Ok, this is where I leave this blog.
I have my own relationship with God and don’t need to hear a bunch of nonsense. Adios!

How much were people charged to attend the circus ?
If these were true ‘men of God’ they would deduct the true cost (not a grossly inflated cost) from the amount raised and use the balance to help the poor & needy.
Instead, Roebert & co will have paid the money into their own bank accounts to fuel their gross & greedy lifestyles. Trust me, I have business experience with this individual.
These people are worse than the very worst corrupt politicians whom we complain about every day.
19000 people @ how much per head ?
Hmmm…. nice work if you can find it.
And it’s all legal because “it’s in God’s name”

Chex on 24 July, 2009 at 4:44 pm CPMSAST #

Gavin, note; only in ‘Gods name’ and not Gods will!
Then there was Jimmy swaggart or how his name was spelled. None of those ever helped the poor. they gave just enough during their crusades to con(vince) the giver.

Sorry people, I don’t trust these dudes. Every time they grab and run. If you must give, give direct to the ones you can see in need.

If you want to see truths, then fight atheism and see what is revealed. Exposure will either convert you or give you immunity against the devil.

Go see in dispatch online, there is a minister that converted to atheism and became a man of the law…be worried!

CHEX from the Rev Sun Moon to David Koresh to the Branch Davidians (can’t remember his name). It’s all about self-gain or personal gratification. Some are just plain ‘wacko’, most are crooked and devious.
Before Roebert there was another lot that lived in St Lukes and ‘cared’ for vulnerable people. The poor people paid every cent of their monthly income to the leader of the sect who had ‘committee meetings’ with his own inner circle to decide how much the followers were allowed each month for their personal expenses.
All the rest of the money was used to finance the guys trips to the US and Europe (with his entire family) where he attended meetings and seminars to get closer to God in order that he could be a better messenger for the Lord.
Yeah right !
Give me an old fashioned Catholic or Anglican priest who drives around in a beat-up VW Beetle and wears moth-eaten clothes. They are never wealthy, seldom live better than the poorest of the flock and spend every minute of their day ministering to the sick & needy FOR FREE.
That is the God I believe in.
How much time does Roebert spend walking the wards of hospitals and clinics preaching to the dying or the ill ? His is not a calling, IT IS A BUSINESS (and a very lucrative one too).

Chex, the American jailed for tax fraud, would that be Kent Horvind? Because if it was, then I think you’ve used a poor example. Horvind was tried and convicted of “tax fraud” because that’s the only offence the US Justice Dept had! What he was really guilty of was not paying taxes to an earthly kingdom. I guess we’re back to the difference between “avoidance” and “evasion”.
And Billy Graham’s “palaces”? What’s this all about? I thought that BG was the one minister that could be used as a good example.

I am sorry, but there are many Christians who do good. I dont trust this guy. He was at a similar big gathering in PE last year where he gave a sermon – Always about money etc etc etc. He seems very vain to me. But its just my opinion. I have never heard of River Ministries reaching out to the poor, going into DV to do some out reach work, handing out blankets etc ?

The big poster outside the church says it all.. – ” you have heard the lies no come and see the truth ” ?

Amazing was about the conference – all the speakers that attended were the same ones that went to the PE conference ?!

Rear end, I don’t know off hand which one did what exactly but they all have controversy’s hanging over them. It may even be the other that did this or that. I know that the houses they live in now are huge and they are old. It is a long time ago in the 70′. I recall even one being in East London and the idiot said he can heal me; In the name of the Lord blablabla and pushed me over as his so called helper put his foot behind me so I had to fall…PRAISE GOD he shouted. Soon after this young little idiot’s eyes openned…he is NOT Jesus. Their organisations were worth millions. They bought up radio stations and even TV stations. I just wonder how much went to the poor. I cannot find a site that gives info on this. They seem to have travelled the world extensively. Sex and prostitutes seem to be in the limelight here as well. They would find dirt on each other to ‘dethrone’ the others so to speak. Why would ministries do this to each other? Working for God don’t seem to fit in here as one would expect. They claim to have won millions of souls and yet, USA Christianity is on the decline in a big way. One of them claim much in North Korea and yet, today NK is 100% atheist and communist.

Do I trust these guys, not on my life. Balcony theists they are in my book. I KNOW they are fakes. They don’t save souls, they have mastered the art to open wallets.

I’m a believer and have to say christians have a long way to go to, the lavish lifestyles is seriously damaging the body of Christ, reach out to the needy 1st. To everyone that have something to say about preachers going around and fooling people, I have this to say if you believe that God exists, then take your focus of these wolves in sheep clothes and focus on your relationship with God, we were called to personal relationships with God, let the wolves be. River Ministries arise, go and clothe the naked, feed the hungry, house the homeless, educate our children and take our mothers and daughters of the streets. Ref the guy who turned from the clergy to the law, I’ve been in your shoes before, my answer to you everything won’t always go your way. And don’t forget there are preachers out there who are genuine so don’t let the few turn you away from the true ones, who will also need to take an offering to cover their costs in hosting these events, and actually do the right thing.

I was one minister that flew in to EL from the USA to be part of this amazing move of God. As an eyewitness to the wonderful transformation of individuals who did not know God loved them and had a wonderful plan for their lives, and then they received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior – to see their genuine joy, the peace of God on their faces, the relief that the stain of their sin has been washed away because of the precious blood of Jesus Christ and to have a confident assurance that they will be in Heaven if they died today is totally worth the trip.

When a city has extreme unemployment, extreme sickness and disease, extreme religious diversity, and extreme numbers of crime and death, I would think the people of the EC who have cried out to the Lord for help would be grateful to the Lord that He brought one of the EC’s own back home to partner with Ps. Andre to bring the Good News of the Gospel with great love, compassion, righteousness, peace and joy in Holy Ghost power to your precious people.

In addition, when I think of the influx of visitors to the city I immediately think well my hotel was full, the restaurants were full, the airline was full, the taxis were kept running, sounds like a city-wide revival is emerging…

This is the prayer I personally prayed, and then prayed with over 1000 people while I was there…
Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive me of my sin. Wash me. Cleanse me. Set me free. Jesus I believe that you died for me. I believe that you rose from the dead for me. Jesus I believe you are coming back again for me. I forgive everyone who has ever hurt me because Jesus you forgive me. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Give me a passion for the the lost, a hunger for the things of God and a Holy Boldness to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know I am saved. I know I am forgiven. I know I am on my way to heaven because I have Jesus in my heart. Amen.

Jesus Christ is very much real and His Spirit is very much changing the face of the EC one heart at a time…won’t you let Him change yours?

Jody, I thank you for what you have done, as you have done so because you feel its your calling and thats what God wanted you to do. Andre has unfortunately showed a side of him in the Eastern Cape that will always leave the mark of mammon on everything he does. The sad thing is that once that is happened, you allow others to judge you by that and throught that. It is the first thing that you will see no matter who says what. His actions in the community has left room for doubt, and you cannot doubt a man that is standing for God. That sir is where the problem lies. I have worked in the inner cell of a simmiliar ministry in another town, and have seen how money can twist the word and work that the Lord has intended into something that satan lavishes.

I went where few white women walked, most times alone to see for myself what works and what doesn’t work on foreign soil with a minimum of 4 different cultures and languages…here is what I discovered – the language of the Holy Ghost is love…caring…compassion…and sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I discovered that 100% of the people I actually spoke with were amazed and shocked that God actually loved them and that He sent me to them to share that wonderful truth – that He loves them, He has a wonderful plan for their lives, that He will forgive their sin, wash away the stain of their sin, destroy bondage in their lives, destroy all curses and witchcraft coming against them and heal their bodies through the shed blood of Jesus Christ that drives sickness and disease far from them…if it were you and you were dying from aids, you were in a hospital and the doctors were on strike, if your parents had died and you were 8 years old and no family to care for you, if you existed in a hut until you died in a few days, weeks or months from today, wouldn’t you want to know that GOD Himself has sent someone to you to help you? What about the boys who prove their manhood by raping young children? What about their torment every day they are alive and then their fear of death and the torment of their afterlife on this earth? Wouldn’t you want to know you could be forgiven – washed clean by the precious blood of jesus Christ and know for certain you are going to heaven? There is nothing to lose and forgiveness to gain along with the love of the Father of all creation and to spend eternity with…to me that is a whole lot better than waiting to die with an unknown eternity to fear…

Thank you Jody, your spirited testimony during Days of Glory in East London was, I am sure, inspiring to all who read it. Your life has been enriched and soul inspired with a blessing from South Africa which you can spread to the people of your own country.

But bear with some of the scepticisms that have been raised on this page. The Gospel speaks of Jesus’ problem of being prophet in the own home town. The same goes for here in East London. Our major evangelists are all too aware that preaching the gospel for riches in the next world, but not denting massive poverty, alienation between human beings in sweeping gulfs of crime, is of little use in effecting any form of fundamental change in South Africa. Many despise this approach of being “too heavenly minded to be earthly useful”.

I have been following Days of Glory on TBN, out of interest for a message for South African society rather than individual souls. The one of course never excludes the other. Spiritual revival in the British industrial revolution saved mankind from going down the gutter of corporate greed. The Weslyan revival resulted in prohibition of child labour and universal schooling for example. Maybe the prophesy for the world, from East London is there and has yet to be revealed. Maybe in time to come we may notice that the spirit of poverty and criminality have fled, so much so that we can look back and give all the glory to God for this revival upon us now. The evidence should reflect in lowering unemployment and improved police crime statistics.

However here we have the crunch: you may have noticed that the one prophet in his own home town most in the spotlight for criticism is Pastor Andre Roebert. He felt it necessary, while sitting back in an armchair in lazy chat with Pastor Rodney, to be defensive about his theology on what seems to be an approach to building of Corporate Churches. I found him to stumble in his repeated and emphatic denials that this approach implies taking from the offertory basket and pouring the proceeds into business, but the other way round: the business pours profits back into the offertory baskets.

Given the nature and scale of South Africa’s transformation problem the theology of Pastor Roebert is interesting. At the core of business today there is widespread corruption and greed. Even major banks of global reach are imploding. I realize of course that there is a moral teaching glowing from Days of Glory, condemning greed and emblazoning compassion as a core business principle.

The teaching of Pastor Andre Roebert has its critics. After all it is based on a capitalist model. And capitalism itself seems is stumbling. Many spiritual leaders in South Africa see a glimmer of hope in South Africa leading the way out of this furnace of economic meltdown with a moral revolution. Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu teaches a different view from that of Pastor Andre Roebert. He points to the early Christian community that displayed a lively cooperative society. This teaching of Jesus’ Kingdom of God was never a Corporate Church. That is until it was swallowed up by the Roman Empire. It was rather a community of saints living a simple lifestyle of “to each according to need and from each according to ability”.

I hope you do not take offence at this homebound criticism. There can of course be little doubt that bringing people into churches in large numbers can only do good. God is love and where love abounds God channels society as we have seen in the early Christian era.

This sounds so American the way you explain your mission. Your own American atheists eat people like you for breakfast, you give them the tools they need with that kind of talk. I was there and stood tall when your ilk were converted. During my presence they could not convert one single christian and hence, they had to kill me to continue their success in gaining souls for their cause.

Do you know DR Warren? well, if you want to make claim on winning souls then go do what Warren did to Flew, then you and I can talk.

When xtians have these meetings with 1000’s of xtains, then we call it church. You preach to xtians. GO out and talk to atheists dude. Win over some atheist souls for God. Do you think I am stupid, if a 100 xtains come to the meeting, how can you put claim to saving a 100 souls??? You did absolutely NOTHING in the name of GOD. I would love to have a one on one debate with you balcony xtians.

You come here with sweet talk and stupid prayers. Go look for the lost sheep. I have no time for your kind. Fool me once and shame on me…you know the rest.

Near the end of times many false prophets will come….

Hey Tony, a quick quiz;
how well do you know the Bible?

Where is God right now?

Where is Jesus?

What is required of me to be saved?

How must I pray?

Hey Chex it seems as if you swallowed an atheist pill or you stumbled upon the word and want to utter it with every oportunity, I’m in the UK and deal with atheist on a regular basis and they are not to be feared and my message to any atheist is why bother fighting to proof the non-existance of a God you don’t believe in. GadgetBRfm I whole heartedly agree with you, Andre has done himslef a lot of demage and has done nothing to this point to prove the sceptics wrong, i.e go and be a popular face in the broken communities. yes Jody the city did gain but unfortunately the people who gained does not include the poor.

Jesus Christ died for all of us, and this is the only way to receive salvation. Don’t be fooled by all the talks of who did what, whether it is true or not, it is irrelevant. All of us will most probably die one day, and then it won’t help to say but so and so ….(did this or have done that…) the onus is on you what choice you make. You are ultimately responsible for your own soul and I pray that you choose wisely.

Chex on 25 July, 2009 at 3:46 pm CPMSAST #

Diverts you stay in UK? It depends where. have you seen the latest onslaught from them? Noticed anything on the red buses? One has to be naive to say there is nothing to worry about when they are gaining ground. This is exactly WHY they are winning. Too many think xtians stand on firm ground. Less than 33% world population are now xtians and declining at a steady rate. USA are now only about 72%. The atheists were successful in removing all Bible classes and prayer from the schools and replaced with evolution. Evolution is not and cannot be scientifically proven by the scientific method. I’ve walked this road and know by their own admission that not only xtians, but ALL people that are theist in any way are to be either converted or, in their words; ‘the world will be a better place without theists’…go figure.

There are two kinds of sceptics; The atheists and then the ALERT theists. I guess with your comment not to fear atheists mean you are not alert, right? They will catch you napping.

Chex I’m very familiar with the red busses, my job entails traveling the UK & most of the time deal with question from atheists, so in all fairness I can say I’ve encountered them all just last week I sat on a panel and questioned on atheism and the inconsictant triad, fear is something I don’t have for them, my own life experience, from being in a gang to an being an atheist myself, drugging and jacking and finaly seeing the light at the peak of my life when all went well not when I was struggeling. Why do I mention this simply because God is real to me and will never be caught off guard by no situation. The only time when christians will remain firm is when their focus is on God instead of their circumstances, the decline in christianity is no surprise as the bible warns that in time to come people will stray due to influence and instability. As for prayer and the bible being removed from schools, that is nothing new the SA government planned to introduce evolution into the schools in SA as well, so its just a matter of time to see if the teachers union will give in or stand their ground.

Chex on 25 July, 2009 at 4:54 pm CPMSAST #

Yes, I agree to an extent that meeting up with an atheist as a casual citizen, they are not to be feared. It stands to reason as in most countries at present they are in minority. The fear I speak of is not physical. They operate in sectors where we won’t notice what they are up to until it is too late. They seem to target Law and clergy at first whilst gathering in funds from wherever they can. The AA are now world wide in just a few years and growing. I suppose it is inevitable that they will take the world, we are warned of this in the good book and we will not be able to stop it. It is the speed at which it is happening the last few years that is concerning.
We have a window as to what life awaits us when they take countries. We see this in North Korea and China at present just to mention some. NK is now 100% atheist and yet one of our *nice groups* claimed success there in the 70’s, Ha! was this the success they meant? Snakes I tell ya!!

When a heart is tugged by the Spirit of God, penetrated by His glorious truth through His written Word, touched by His wondrous love, anyone anywhere can receive forgiveness for their sin – the sin of rejecting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Everything ungodly, unrighteous, unholy, is forgiven and that soul is washed clean from not only the sin but the stain of sin…

Think about this: Only a fool would not want the Lord to forgive him or her from a lifetime of sin…the Bible says the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

This is the same message Dr. HB is preaching around the globe and has been since he was a young boy here in the EC.

When you think about the babies born every day at the Frere Hospital with aids and you judge the mom, the baby, the system, yet the crime of this continues even in the midst of your opinion and judgement, the shocking news is this – neither your opinion nor your judgement did anything to help anyone step up and out of anything…

When Days of Glory blanketed the EC, and continues to spread throughout Africa and the rest of the world, within that covering was and is first and foremost the love of GOD being demonstrated in thought, word, and deed to every person we approach.

My first week in EL, I went to a Rotary Club meeting inviting the leading businessmen in the city to come to River Park and be part of what the Lord Himself is doing here on the EC. I told them that their favorite son Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne has come home at the request of the Lord to bring a life changing, community changing, cape changing, continent changing message that everyone can embrace. In addition, I told them that the Lord would be increasing them in their businesses and using them (if they would allow Him) and their resources to be part of the solution to revive and rebuilt the EC and especially EL. It was an invitation to be part of the Lord’s solution…this means crime will reduce, aids will be treated, housing will improve, overall quality of life will become better for all the people, orphans and widows will have families, children will have homes and food and clothing…it takes a community of true believers in jesus Christ to be a family to the homeless, fatherless…

As I walk the streets of the EC, and I see the faces of young and old, male and female, boy and girl, my heart and my mind say this “Not on my watch will I let one of these dear ones pass by without the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ.” They are transformed before my very eyes with hope and the understanding they will spend all eternity with Him.

When revival comes to a place of GOD’s own choosing everything and everyone has a choice to make…be revived from dead works and the religious traditions of men, coming back to their first love – Jesus Christ – truly receive the free gift of GOD – salvation – sozo – nothing missing nothing broken – enjoy sweet fellowship with the Lord and be part of life…

This is not an American thing it is a biblical truth…for I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation…especially in the EC…

Brent, Dr Warren is a great Christian and was taken to debate against Dr Flew who is an atheist. In fact, Flew was an atheist held in high regard within his Circle. Both of them held a PhD in their field so we are not talking of casual blokes in a pub argument. The debate was whether God existed etc. Needless to say that Flew came second best in that debate and today he is no more an atheist. Flew labels himself as a deist. In general arguments/debates the atheists hate when this is brought in and avoid this.
I have the CD of the four day debate if you would like a copy and see for yourself.

I will google a link for you.

In case any here don’t know the story of the buses in UK.

The atheists have advertised on buses that there is NO GOD etc. They aim to collect funds and expand this to all countries.

Jody my man, the last time someone said God spoke to him I recall that to be G Bush, it makes me very… can you answer those four questions I asked earlier?

Joe on 25 July, 2009 at 9:52 pm CPMSAST #

Why did all the animals on earth live within walking distance of Noah’s house? Why was Noah the only person who owned a boat? How can Christians get away with having their cake and eating it, by saying on the one hand that Jesus died for me, and on the other hand that I should worship Jesus, who is alive? Why do the words “rapture” and “collection” and “Sunday School” and “Pastor” not appear anywhere in the Bible? Why is David regarded as a holy man, when he was a killer? Ditto Moses and Paul. Why was Lot regarded as a righteous man, when he gave his 15 year old virgin daughter up to be gang-raped? Why are there no talking snakes and burning bushes around today? Do you think Jesus would in this day and age still be able to walk on water, since he has holes in his feet from being crucified? Since Thor, the God of Thunder, has a hammer, and Jesus, the Christian god, was nailed to a plank, does that not make Thor a better god than Jesus?

maggi on 25 July, 2009 at 11:59 pm CPMSAST #

Yes Jody, God is very real in deed, and the fact that we have this wonderful planet and what it gives us is a miracle and for that I am eternally grateful. BUT, God did not put us on this planet to sit around either and “pray” for revival/growth/income etc, he also put us here to work, to use our brains, to help ourselves, but sadly there are the exploiters and those who do nothing and the small handful in between who it seems do everything.

Many years ago, when it was still Rhodesia, I went to one of these “revival themed” things, alongside thousands others, and boy oh boy do you walk out of there with a buzz, sadly that buzz did not last long either. It took a good old fashioned Anglican priest years later who showed what true caring, compasion, love for his fellow man to show me what God is all about. Not loud speakers, loud music, loads of foot stomping, clapping etc. No, just a beautiful, thatch roof church in the middle of the bush with peace, quite, beauty, compasion and love. that to me personally is what God is all about.

yes, this man comes across as decent, but the hype that goes with it, not for me.

Aha!!! an atheist, I somehow knew one will show. This is DD 24/7, where can we go to have a solid debate and deal with those one at a time…thats if you up to it – or did you address Jody. The debate here is about ministries. Where is your blog? One has to be strict with you blokes as your easy way out when at a loss is to divert the subject. If that fails then the vitriol and slander starts and I don’t want that on this blog. Swearing and personal insults is your first line of attack. Now take this elsewhere as I don’t want to be banned.

Megan on 26 July, 2009 at 12:22 am CAMSAST #

Chex, you seem to take great personal pride in your ability to fight atheists. Do you think this is an appropriate manner in which to represent God’s love and forgiveness? Surely God’s glory shoudl come before your own pride.

Chex on 26 July, 2009 at 12:41 am CAMSAST #

Note to Christians.
You will find people like Joe usually know the Bible better than most Christians do. It seems as if they are rehearsed in the questions they ask. They pick their lines from the Bible as these are ‘proven’ winners they think xtians cannot answer in general on their blogs. I must admit that most xtians cannot answer them. THIS is why I was killed in one of these groups.

If you cannot answer the questions he just asked, then don’t go to their blogs. You now have an idea what to expect. What you don’t know yet, they yield a sharp sword (tongue) to slay you.

Chex on 26 July, 2009 at 12:53 am CAMSAST #

Megan, I do not take pride in this, they are taking souls and someone must stop them. Would you rather that they carry on without hindrance? Do you suggest I back off and let them be? The most prominent of them, Richard Dawkins, is a militant atheist leader and entices them to do just that. So you recon I just leave them.

What is River ministries doing? Preaching to xtians! This is what they should be doing if they want to claim *saving souls* for God. They should be converting atheists – the lost sheep. I don’t make war against atheists, I try to stop what they do. I succeeded in this for over two years until they killed my presence in their blog.

Realist on 26 July, 2009 at 5:06 am CAMSAST #

I am not an atheist, I am an agnostic, does that make you any better than me? or, does it show that I have not been brainwashed or indoctrined into one of these (considered by myself) religious cults? Surely and open mind is a more sensible attitude? By the way, Joe did not say he did not believe in God.

Stentor on 26 July, 2009 at 8:20 am CAMSAST #

Joe, those are very good questions. However, if you read the Book, and exercise just a little logic, you’ll find that most of the questions that you seek answers to are in there.
In fact, if you read The Book with a receptive heart, you’ll find the answer to ALL to all your questions.
Happy reading!

Chex on 26 July, 2009 at 8:40 am CAMSAST #

Realist, let us keep this clean ok.
You say agnostic, why? even an atheist will ask you that.
What has ‘being better’ have to do with being whatever?
Who is brainwashed and why?
Who has a closed mind, define?
Atheists regard agonstics *weak atheist* After all, you demand evidence of a God

Chex on 26 July, 2009 at 8:48 am CAMSAST #

Stentor, You cannot use the Bible as reference as they reject the Bible as truth. To them it is a fairy tale written by goat herders 2000 years ago.

One thing even a militant atheist wont say is; *there is no God* or even less will say they can prove *God does not exist* One of their prominent leaders had the slogan on the buses in UK reading ‘there *probably* is no God so enjoy your life’.

Stentnor, hope youve been well, I agree with you. Atheism tends to exalt reason, but it is actually irrational. Atheists tend to put a lot of stock in the emperical method and in logic. One cannot disprove God exists using the emperical method. You might reply: But I can’t disprove a giant purple frog on Mars controls the universe, either. Granted, one can never disprove any given thing exists. The atheistic position denying God’s existence, if based on the emperical method, is absurd. Why do I say that? In order to prove the assertion No God exists experimentally, one would need to comprehensively know all of reality. Comprehensive knowledge of reality is called omniscience. One would need to be omniscient in order to prove there is no God, but if one were omniscient one would, by definition, already be God! So, based on emperical methodology, the only one capable of disproving the existence of God would be God himself! But some would say you can indeed assert something does not exist if its existence is logically self contradictory, such as a square triangle. By definition it cannot exist. It is illogical for something to be a square and to also be a triangle. Again, granted, but this line of reasoning assumes logic and real meaning exist and are our basis for knowledge –something an atheist has no right to assert! The existence of God is not only logically possible, it is philosophically essential. (We’ll get to that more later below.) One cannot prove logic exists unless one first presupposes a God in whom reason and meaning are transcendentally rooted, otherwise these categories are mere philosphical prejuduces. Atheism is inherently self-contradictory. The evidence for the existence of God is there for all to see, only we refuse to see it.

I just want to say that Days of Glory has been such a blessing to my family and I. The fact is God is real and the devil will deceit you to keep you in a lie and bondage. He wants to keep you from experiencing Jesus’ love. Just because people don’t believe in hell won’t keep you from going there. Please people listen to God’s knock at your hart’s door today, you might not be here tomorrow and Jesus wants you to spend eternity with Him – surrender you life to Him. I dare all of you who can go to the River church in East London to go there and have a first hand experience of how God is moving- you won’t be the same again. I dare you to go don’t let the devil fool you into not going.

I just want to say thank you for Days of Glory! My whole life has changed for the better since attending these upper room meetings! I was in bondage for a long time and now Jesus has set me free to do the things HE wants me to do and not what I want to do. I was addicted to watching soap opera’s like Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, etc. And now I dont want to watch these programs anymore because they display everything that is NOT Godly! I have been so transformed and even winning souls for Jesus now! Its amazing how things can change in an instant once Jesus has touched you. I have grown spiritually too since going to Riverpark. It wouldve taken me I think so much longer to get where I am now if I werent going. I just want to thank EVERYONE for making this possible! And I will be faithful to the Lord forever and ever! I dare you to come and see what He can do for you!

I stared watching days of glory on tbn in the first week of broadcast.

I had just started a guesthouse and God spoke to me and told me to sow my guesthouse to all the people that are visiting DAYS OF GLORY.

I am a social worker and dealing with desperate people every day. Most nights I am exhausted but last week I went to River Park and was SO blessed and refreshed at the meeting. I have been a little jealous that I havent been able to get to the soul winning training but during the course of my work I have prayed for people. Two weeks ago I heard about a man who was drinking himself to death because he has HIV so I went to visit him. I found out he was scared of dying. I told him we all have to die sometime but we can choose where we spend eternity. I told him of Jesus love for him and that He is the healer and that He has a good plan and purpose for his life. This man accepted Christ and he is a different person. He has stopped drinking and when he came to my office he said the prayer had really helped him. When I asked if I could pray with him again, he couldnt get his hat off fast enough! I have visited him and his family several times – the change is remarkable. When I took this job I said Lord I don’t want it to be just about social work. A lady who was a sangoma cried when we prayed for her. She said she could feel the love of Jesus. What a mighty God we serve! Rodney, thank you for lighting the fire in East London. This city will never be the same again. Andre, don’t listen to the critics, they don’t know your heart. Bless you for making River Park available.
I was once where the Chex of this world were and I thought my Christian friends has lost the plot. Praise God He got hold of me. I pray He touches your hearts too.

Some of us have been thrilled to have a former son of ours to return to the EC and “light up fires.” We consider these “days of glory” as having eternal significance for those who are saved. Their eternal destinies are secure. They now have God in their lives. They now are full of hope and their future is full of limitless possibilities. This is good work! Keep it up we are praying for you.

Concerning the integrity of the Pastors Roeberts and Browns… they are all “giving people.” They continue to ’sow’ into the work of God. Because Pastors Andre and Jenny have a sense of aesthetics, their own unique fashion and a spirit of excellence, they should not be harassed. Very soon the social impact of River Ministries and this couple will become public.

To both Pastors Andre & Jenny Roebert,… be strong in the Lord.

To Dr Rodney Howard Browne,.. Our country (apart from needing salvation across our land)is greatly in lack of a sense of humour. We need more and more of laughter and “joy in the Holy Ghost”.

We from King Williams Town love all of you.

MANmade religions/religious dogmas scare me ~ just as much of that which is documented in the hugely MANipulated Bible & other religious books. They are MAN devised as a means of making money, controlling masses of innocent & naive folk, whilst instilling sheer FEAR in their hearts & minds. They may not ALL do so intentionally, so I can’t label ALL sinful ~ but scary, yes!

Going to church doesn’t make you a christian anymore than standing inside a garage makes you a car… Use it don’t use it….

schmeagle on 28 July, 2009 at 9:19 am CAMSAST #

I did not go to this circus, I was invited by decided not to go. You see I am in fact a christian in my own rite and will not go to church. Why must I go and put myself amongst some of the biggest hypocrits who walk on the face of the earth who think that by going to church their sins will be forgiven only to go after church and commit whatever sins it is they are doing, beating their wives, having affairs, the list is endless. I used to go to church, but when it came out that I am a g@y woman, and because my sexu@l preferences were not what they are supposed to be in the eyes of the church, I was asked to leave for fear that I would make passes at the other ladies who go to the church. In my opinion, you do not have to go to church to be a christian, look at who Jesus chose to do his work for him, prostitues, poor people etc etc. I heard what went on at the Ministry over these few days. There was very little preaching about the word of God but more preaching about giving your money to the church. (R500.00 as a minimum). Where is God’s message in that. What do you think God thinks about that. Never in his life did he ask for money for his preachings, people gave if and when they could. As I said in the beggining this is a circus and many people before me said so.

Chex on 28 July, 2009 at 9:42 am CAMSAST #

schmeagle, I also did not go and have no interest of going. I have my reservations and if something you wrote is true, it confirms my suspicions as expected. I cannot for one moment imagine God telling them EL is His choice, etc. Other than ‘revival’ how many souls did they win? I would like to hear from one of these atheists/agnostics that they saved!

NO liars please – remember Jesus loathes lies.

PS. I am not a *garden variety* christian. I do not have proof of God but I have evidence for God.

schmeagle on 28 July, 2009 at 9:50 am CAMSAST #

CHEX, what I wrote there is the truth. I have a friend who is a Christian and goes to church religiously. She went to the revival and said that she couldnt believe what was going on. She said that 90% of the preaching was about money, not about the word of God, she says that there was absolutely no Godly message at all and eventually at 11:15pm she got up and walked out. The amount of actual preaching that took place was minimal. People were told to put in as much money as possible, nothing less than R500.00 was acceptible, my friend said she didn’t put any in as it was her choice whether she did so or not. I know of some people who went on more than one night and every night would put at leat R500.00 in. So now can you imagine and lets do a quick calculation, lets round it off to 500 people every night over 34 nights. R500.00 x 500 x 34 = R8 500 000. (R250 000.00 a night). NOW THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY.

Well, have you noticed that this Tony or Jody dude never bothered to answer my questions? He claimed to be one of the main actors in this circus. Why would he anyway, the act IS going to plan.

Bev Camitsis on 28 July, 2009 at 1:49 pm CPMSAST #

Chex, you asked some questions and seem perturbed that no one has answered you yet. I will endeavour to answer them for you :
God is Everywhere – Look at Creation – He is in Everything you see;
As for Jesus – He could be in your heart if you asked Him to come into your Heart; You won’t find Him in any grave like other ‘gods’ as He is Risen from the dead and Lives in those who will acknowledge that He is the Saviour of the World;
I have answered your third question above – ALL you have to say is Lord Jesus, come into my Heart, I confess I am a sinner and believe that You died for ME on the Cross and that You rose again on the Third Day – but please don’t say this as a mockery – say it from your heart.
I have just taught you how to pray – You can go a step further and pray what Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be your name.
As far as the Revival is concerned I was there from last Thursday to Sunday and went out to ‘win Souls’. People are hungry for HOPE and that HOPE is found in Jesus Christ. He does change people’s lives and if you gave Him the opportunity, He would change your whole outlook on life!
It is sad (and dangerous) when people mock the likes of Dr Rodney Howard-Browne – Be Careful. Why do I say dangerous – because it is a Fearful thing to fall into the Hands of an angry God and mocking makes Him angry. Dr Rodney Howard-Browne IS a true and Holy man of God and I can assure you that he paid his own way to South Africa and his church in Tampa Florida are forking out for their expenses during their stay in South Africa.
Regarding comments about Pastors Andre and Jenny, have you not heard of their Mission Siyanceda Africa? That tells me they are giving to the poor and EVERY soul that has been ’saved’ in East London is being followed up on and I am sure their needs will be met as far as Pastors Andre and Jenny can meet their needs.
Also, what is wrong with a man financing businesses? You should be pleased that they are empowering the less fortunate with jobs etc. and how do you know what they do with the money that is received? Let me teach you the principle of Giving – You Give – You Get. It may not be in a monetary fashion, but believe me it is very rewarding when you have a ‘Giving’ Spirit.
Please don’t know this ‘Move’ of God because that is what it is. People’s lives ARE being changed and the more people who ask Jesus into their hearts and mean it, the better South Africa, Africa and the world will be. You see, when you truly ask Jesus into your heart, something changes in you and you find yourself wanting to do good as opposed to doing ‘not so good’ things.
I know that hypocrisy can be rife, but I believe that it is up to each individual to portray Jesus to others and when hypocrites raise their ugly heads, we need to ask God to forgive them and show them where they are going wrong.
East London should be proud (and pleased) that GOD DID CALL Dr Rodney Howard-Browne there – it is such a lovely city and the people (of all races and creeds) are amazing. Perhaps you should just thank HIM for the boost it has given East London and leave the rest for HIM to sort out.
I pray one day you will give your life to HIM and ‘feel the difference’ but like I said it is a Heart thing!
Much Love,
Bev from Durban

Bev, I am not an atheist/agnostic as that seems where you are heading. I am not a *garden variety* christian either for many of them are hypocrites. I am wary of people claiming to do Gods work when they claim the glory, etc.

I believe in one living God, the creator of everything. I have evidence for my God.

Now if you go read the Bible, you will soon find where God is and where Jesus is. God ruled on earth in His personal capacity until about 2000ya. Jesus Taught us how to live and gave us the new law. He also gave us the Lords prayer. You need no other prayer as this ONE is all you need. Go read it. There is only one bridge to God.

So, God is not here. Jesus is not here but will return when the time is right. He taught us what we need to know and left us with the WORD (the HS). Now we have the freedom to choose as we wish. If you choose to reject God, then fine. You are then free of His laws. But be warned, You will not enjoy His rewards. You reject Him, you reject His rewards.

People blame God when the river floods take their home and family. After the flood they build house on the same spot and the next flood does the same. Again they blame God. How foolish can one be. Anyway, that person now says there is no God and becomes an atheist. This analogy applies to everything you do in life.

God is not here to hold your hand when you go mountain climbing, He gave you brains to know it is risky to gamble.

Why is this so hard for most to understand? Not even xtians understand this. They pay for their place in heaven with money and it don’t work like that. R500 won’t get you in heaven. Judgment will be on your works.

Here promotion does not work on how long you toy-toy. Honest work is required. Giving money to others to buy blankets on your behalf is asking others to book a place for you in heaven. Go buy blankets and give to those that you believe are cold. Don’t do it and expect a reward, do it because you want to. Asking others to do it turns out it never gets done.

I even paid a little girl’s school fees and the parents today still don’t know who paid it. I never claimed that glory.

Many I call Balcony xtians but who am I to judge.

A small window of who I am. Make of it what you will.

Dear Chex, I am sorry if you thought I was insinuating that you are an atheist/agnostic – you obviously do believe in something and I will not argue the point. The mere fact that you call us/them xtians tells me that you do not believe in Christ because the correct spelling is Christian but to each his own. I can assure you that there are millions of Christians that do good work for the needy (like paying school fees and giving blankets and food of their own accord) and don’t tell anyone else about what they have done and do not see their ‘good deed’ as a way to heaven. I agree R500 will not get anyone into heaven! and most are not asking Him for a reward or a place in heaven. As far as Jesus not being here is concerned, He is – in the form of His Holy Spirit but like I said I do not want to argue with you, nor condemn you.
I am sorry, however, that you do not acknowledge the fact that the Revival has only done good in the city of East London and around the world, for that matter so, let each of us make a difference in the world in whatever way we deem fit.
May Our Father be your Daily Prayer and may He Richly Bless you, Dr Rodney and his wife and Pastors Andre and Jenny.
Much love
Bev

The list of apostate preachers is endless, Juanita Bynum, Leonard Sweet, Kennith Copeland ect, ect. People need to wake up and seek God not experiences….I have seen much of this and it is the last days. “Yeshua himself said take hed that you be not decieved for many will come in my name.” This is not God’s spirit, its humanistic, mans spirit, like the same sensation you get from a football match.

YEs I have been to one of Dr Howard Browns teachings in the UK, I knew somethong was not right from the start. Afterall, how can a man of God say it is more important to laugh than teach Gods word??? Think about that.

Its either people are going to a different Rodney howard brown or their high on religious weed. Because last time I checked according to Galation 5:22 one of the fruits of the spirit is Joy, just thought I’d mention that and he himself, Rodney, always lift up the name of Jesus and says that its not about the person on the pullpit of about anyone else except Jesus and catching the fire and passion to preach the gospel.
