“You haven’t lived until you’ve skydived,” quipped 78-year old Charlotte Henman who, together with two other ladies of about the same age, were part of a skydiving trio at the Elvin Extreme airshow over the weekend, writes Zisanda Nkonkobe. See our airshow and granny videos below:

The three skydiving grannies – Pat Keyter, 77, Nola Rathbone 79 and Charlotte Henman, 78 – made their debut jump from 11 000-feet high on Saturday.

Dispatch caught up with Henman and Rathbone on Monday to talk about the jump and how it all came together.

Saturday morning started off with a medical examination for  the trio where their heart rates and blood pressure had to be checked by a doctor.

Luckily all three were given the “all clear” and eachwere given a certificate stating they were fit to do a tandum skydive.

Rathbone said once they were on the plane and up in the air,  it took about half an hour for the pilot to get into the correct position.

“We were all sitting on the floor and squashed together like sardines. ThenI had to attach myself to my instructor. You have to put your head on his shoulder and your feet around the back of him as if you are going to kick him.”

So how did the day go for the grannies? Check out our video and find out.

If I am granted 1 wish today, it would be to have as much spirit and energy as these grannies have when I reach their age. Here is proof that you are as young as you feel. Well done Grannies, I am in awe of you.
