Staff arriving at work on Monday morning were greeted by the following ugly sights around the Daily Dispatch here in Caxton Street.
Overnight, we were the targets of a bunch of thugs with spray cans who thought it proper to leave their particular unsavoury mark on our building.
Dispatch Production Superintendent Chris van Heerden said the ugly graffiti was first noticed at around 6am by security guards.
“The graffiti covers the block between Fleet and Caxton Streets in both Cambridge and Station Streets,” Van Heerden said.
“The culprits were clever enough to stay out of our CCTV camera views. My assumption is that it happened between 11.30pm and 6 am this morning,” Van Heerden said.
He said the matter ha
d been reported to Buffalo City as well as to our security company.
From the DispatchOnline team’s side, we hope the culprits get caught and punished.
We are no against graffiti – if it’s art. But the weekend’s half-baked spray paint disaster is nothing but visual pollution.
Just wondering if there is ANY reason why the grey building on the corner of Cambridge and Fleet street left out.
These guys have also hit Southernwood on numerous occasions. They spray over everything. The walls get repainted (at great expense) only to be sprayed again.
These guys seem to be spraying more than all the stray tomcats combined!!!!
What exactly is the point behind the idiocy? It costs other people money, but there is no gain for the praypainters. And please don’t tell me it’s art, artists are proud of their work, these idiots hide away.
