Apart from being illegal, the practice of holding on to a truck is extremely dangerous – both for the rider as well as the people driving behind him.

TJ says her brother used to be a heavy vehicle truck driver on the railways and had to pull over many times because of an “unauthorised” passenger on board.
“Sometimes when the uninvited passenger saw a police vehicle, they would jump off and try to run away. Some were badly injured… while a few didn’t make it alive,” she says.
